Punching and a fluttering

The Counterfeit Kit Challenge mini-challenge #2 is asking us to get busy punching and no, we don't need our boxing gloves. Paper punching is all that's called for :-)

I have a few go-to punches that I use over and over again and this time around was no exception. They are used so often that I noticed the punch themselves was not as smooth as usual and I'm wondering if they have reached the end of their lifespan - how long do your punches last?

Anyway, I knew I needed to punch butterflies but then challenged myself to use at least one or two others. In the end I used a Martha Stewart border punch and as a page tag punch. So three in total which I was quite pleased with.

A simple layout using a few products from my March kit, Soothe although I have to admit to adding the pinstripe paper into the kit when I came across it in my stash a few days ago.

The 3D butterflies were layered up with paper and vellum and I used the negative shapes too although several are covered up. The journalling is tucked behind the photo, inside a vellum pocket to keep it a little bit hidden (again!).

Nothing spectacular here but the chance to add a few sweet words in the journalling which always makes me happy.

What are your favourite punches that I really should be adding to my shopping list?

  2. Love the vellum layering!!! Butterflies always make me smile. I really love the title of this layout too. So I just got an order today which included two Jenni Bowlin punches, one is a banner punch and the other is a border punch with houses. I can't wait to use them! (I got them at scrapbooking-warehouse.com)

Layered butterflies work for me too! Have you tried punching through kitchen foil the waxed paper? I've read that that helps to keep them going - though I haven't tried it myself. Or maybe it's a good excuse to go shopping!

sweet page, Lisa! Love the way you layered the butterflies with vellum. I just bought a NEW punch that doesn't seem that crisp. The foil did seem to help somewhat. I really should have returned it, but I NEEDED to use it ASAP for G's party. Anyway, thanks for leading me the CKC. I am finding it to be really amazing!

  7. Love how you mixed the twine and butterflies. I see others have mentioned using foil. That's helped for me as well, but not all punches are the same. Some just die on ya. Hope you can revive yours!
