You should have reached me via the adorable Janine but you can find the full blog hop list at the end of my post as well as finding your way to the beginning of the hop back at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog.
The challenges on offer this month were:
I decided to have a go at the title challenge - to create an unexpected title and I had a vision in my mind which didn't really materialise, if truth be told! But that's ok because I like the overall effect of the layout and it was fun to try something new.
I almost always turn to my large collection of Thickers for my titles and then might add in mini stickers to add more variety so my challenge was to keep my hands off the Thickers and try my hand at stitching! I had a perfect picture of neat, swirly, sewn title matched up with some October Afternoon Mini Market stickers for something very unexpected for me. Mmmm.... the neat and swirly part certainly didn't work. I think that my gold thread was rather lumpy bumpy for such a small font so lesson learnt.
But the topic of the layout was something I wanted to capture and I certainly don't want to waste that gorgeous My Mind's Eye paper so I'm satisfied to add it to my pile of layouts to be filed away sometime this century...
This is layout #3 from my February Counterfeit kit, Runaway |

Oh there have been some fab - travel based- layouts this month, I love how you've used the paper to create the feeling of travel and movement - genius!
ReplyDeleteWhat a superb page Lisa - LOVE the stitching which I know is out of your comfort zone. I gave up on metallic threads as they are prone to breaking. Great use of the map page and fab photos.
ReplyDeleteGreat layout, love how you've done the title :)
ReplyDeleteMore stitching :) I love it! Still not sure I would have the patience!
ReplyDeleteWould you mind if I turn this in to a sketch to inspire a layout? x
Fantastic layout :) Love the stitching too you all went up and beyond what I took for this challenge :)
ReplyDeleteLove how your whole page tells a story, Lisa! You made perfect use of your base paper. Every detail is fantastic,...from the triangular spacing to the creative, fun and cogent title. Then, add the perfect spot for a little journaling and the beginning, middle and finish to the story pictures and sub-titles,...just fab!!
ReplyDeleteLovely page, and so love the stitching on this!
ReplyDeleteFantastic stitching. It looks just as good as mine and the line from Europe to USA is inspired. That map paper is gorgeous.Clever use of Africa for your journaling as well :)
ReplyDeleteLove the stitching and the clever use of the three photos.
ReplyDeleteSaw this in your Flickr stream but it's a treat to here you tell about it here :-) I have some less than cooperative gold thread like yours - I feel your pain! The title is 100% successful, though! Clever idea
ReplyDeleteLOL at "the pile of layouts to be filed away sometime this century." That is SO me! I love your title work, and don't think it's too lumpy bumpy at all. AND, you've inspired me to do something similar with my flight photos from our most recent trip to Wyoming. So, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI spy a NYC pillow here! I am so thrilled that you are so thrilled with your gift! The day I found it, I wasn't even looking for a gift. It just jumped out and said, "I must be given to Lisa!". You, by far, have the best collection of constellation and map paper out there. This one is fabulous. The dark background is a great backdrop for the stunning blue sky photos and your signature touch of gold with the stitching is so inspired. I'm sorry it gave you such trouble, but the end result is stunning...truly.
ReplyDeleteA great layout Lisa and who need perfect anyway - looks fab and you've captured the story well :)
