I have been an Elvis fan since I was tiny. I think I got my first copy of Elvis' Christmas Wishes album when I was about 7 and loved it from the first moment. And Blue Christmas is one of my favourites of his so when Jingle Belles announced that we had to channel our inner Elvis for this week's challenge, I was immediately on board.
Guest designer June Houck's challenge "Blue Christmas" was perfect for another card using my very vintage MME papers Bohemia Christmas which I have always loved so much, but never found the right way to use it. I really ought to just sit down and make a Christmas layout with it, but in the meantime, cards are slowly eating into the papers.
I found a great sketch online at Skipping Stones Design
and created a slightly off centre (!) version. I love this brown and blue colour combination - it may be non-traditional, but I think it works so well!
There are some incredible cards over at Jingle Belles this week that you really should go and check out, but my personal favourite is this incredible one (here) by Lauren with not only a blue theme, but also featuring Elvis himself. I LOVE it! Wouldn't that be an amazing card to get through the post? Guaranteed to bring a smile to your face when you open it! Fantastic.
This is week 31 and I have a pile of 43 cards, just waiting to be written and popped into the post - talk about getting ahead of myself! I'm thrilled.
What a gorgeous card, I do so love that colour combo. Thank you for the jingle bell link, I'm having a christmas craft day next week, so I'll be checking them out :)
ReplyDeleteYou had me at MME Bohemia…I am hoarding the few pieces I own! So I hardly need to tell you how gorgeous I think your JB card is this week! It is completely fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI actually pulled it out in June and started a mini travel album with it. It is still sitting in a pile on my craft room table. I guess should finish it ;)
Lisa, I am so happy to have found a kindred Elvis fan in you! Several months ago, my husband got a Roku box for cheap on bay and put it in my craft room. I can listen to an Elvis radio station and NO commercials! I have been listening all week this week :)
Wow! That's some achievement. This is the first year I have ever thought about making my own Christmas cards. haven't actually started yet though. This one is beautiful
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, Lisa! I **love** that you used these papers! (great minds think alike, right?) I love that fabby bow on your card! :) You just GO GO on your xmas cards, I think I'll come pretty close to having all mine done before November, too. Such a good feeling to check it off the list before the list is even written;) Have a great day!
ReplyDeletethere is SO MUCH to ♥LOVE♥ about this card, where do i start? the papers are aces, obviously, and you've used them in perfect proportions; those teeeeeeeny brown mats and rounded corners make the already great choices... and that FAB sketch... even cooler; and the "off center" bow makes my heart go pitter pat! ♥GORGEOUS♥ missus!
ReplyDeleteps: ta v much for the shout-out! making that elvis card was SO MUCH FUN and i am thrilled to think that other ppl love it, too! :)
Look at you GO, Lisa. Is it just me or are you all smug w/ your pile of 43 (I think that's the magic #) Christmas cards sitting there beside you?!?! *wink* I'm pretty sure by now that you know I'm kidding, and I love seeing these awesome cards :) I better get on the JB bandwagon quick or else we'll be cardless this year!! :O ha. Hugs from Canada, Heidi
ReplyDeleteThis card is SO pretty Lisa! I absolutely adore the colors you used....the browns with blue is one of my favorite color combos!
