And there are some wonderful DT kits out there again this month, so I do recommend you going over to the CKC site and having a look at what we have all created. I definitely want to add in a few things to my kit after seeing what beauties the others have come up with :-)
This month's inspiration kits are the current ones over at Scraptastic Club. You can see both the kits, Autumn Splendour and Home Sweet Home, and their contents here.

I decided on the Autumn Splendour as inspiration and once again, had nothing from the original kit in my stash meaning I had to get creative with what I do have. I really liked the oranges, browns and autumn tones with the splash of bright blue which seemed very fresh and inviting. The die cuts, leaves and flowers also appealed so I knew that I had a good base to start working on.
The result of much pulling and sorting and exchanging is November Glory.
I haven't made a list of the products used but if anyone is interested in this information either for this kit or in the future, just let me know and I'll make one. The main reason I don't do this is that my main focus for these kits is to use up older stash that might have been sitting around for a LONG time. And this kit is no exception.
I started by selecting some cardstock in the base colours of the kit: cream, kraft, brown, rust, blue and green adding in some mustard Dotted Swiss and a sheet of Coredinations in a dusky pink. Then I went to my paper file where I keep the more standard papers (all BasicGrey and special collections are kept separately and everything else goes into a large paper file) and pulled whatever caught my eye. Stripes, spots, oranges, yellows, browns, blues, a few neutrals, a printed vellum and a die-cut sheet. There's a LOT of paper in there but honestly, some of it is years old so my philosophy this time is "use it or lose it".
After that, I added in some alphas but I expect that I will reach for some others along the way because I only added large brown letters and no doubt will need some other colours too.
Next up was embellishments and this is where it all got a bit out of hand! Flowers, buttons, brads, die cuts, wood flourishes, stickers, leaves, paper trims, binding tape, a spinner, glimmer glass, bingo cards, bling... the list goes on and on. Again, quite a few items are really quite old so I want to challenge myself to at least try to use them by mixing them in with newer stuff. We'll see how successful that is.
This month Scraptastic Club is not only our inspiration kit but also our sponsor. So check out their site at http://www.scraptasticclub.com/ and they will be giving away a $20 gift certificate to one lucky winner.
All you have to do to be entered in the drawing is either join the blog hop or comment on the blog hop...it's that easy! The blog hops will be on November 27th and 28th.
I seriously love your kit! Those supplies may be old but they are gorgeous! I found it interesting that you start with CS and work from there (I always start with a patterned paper) - I love hearing about how people put their kits together
ReplyDeleteThis is kit wonderful. I can already see the lovely layered pages you'll be making - and they'll have a rich depth to them. Don't you think the sorting, pulling and exchanging is what makes this so much fun. But being a Scorpio, and the fact that it's your birthday month, I am surprised not to see a bit more red!
ReplyDeletegorgeous kit xx
ReplyDeleteYour kit is so super yummy. Love the flowers. I also don't name all my kit contents either for the same reason. Is it your birthday month? Did I miss that? I see Susanne's comment above. Happy Birthday in case I don't catch you on your actual birthday. My nephew's birthday was on the 1st and we are having his party today. I have to go make his birthday card, in fact. :) :) :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteLisa, hope you have a great birthday month (if it's yours that's this month, or whoever in your family!) Love the kit. I THINK I might play along this month. We'll see....I love that Autumn Splendor kit from Scraptastic. It's lovely. Heidi
ReplyDeleteOh, what an amazing kit!! I love, love, love your embellies- I may have to counterfeit those roses and vines!!
ReplyDeleteSeriously an amazing kit! Love your papers and such great embellishes. Have a blast creating!
ReplyDeleteGreat kit. I love making kits but I just don't use them much because I feel stiffled LOL Need to change that!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Love all the browns and all the alphas and papers. Looks like a great group of stuff for this month!
ReplyDeleteOoh, you have some gorgeous embellishments there! These kind of colours are some of my favourites too, so I will be a happy visitor all month as I check out what you have been making :)
ReplyDeleteSuperb kit well done and I love all those roses
ReplyDeleteI love the colors you chose for your kit. And I like that you added the (flair like) buttons. I have a lot of those that never get used.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors! I'm not quite sure why I started listing my kit contents but it really is starting to be more of a pain and I just wonder if anybody really cares. I agree with your thinking that if its all older stuff people probably won't be able to find it now anyway! Your embellishments look absolutely scrumptious!
ReplyDeleteWow, your kit is awesome and so pretty. You have so many beautiful embellishments. That's something I need more of....I think. I don't use many on my layouts, maybe that's why.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous kit, I love the colours. I look forward to seeing the LO's you create using it.xxxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous kit!! And I love already seeing the amazing creations you've put together!!
