The furry (or feathery!) side of Christmas

This week over at Jingle Belles, we were encouraged to play some Reindeer Games which meant including animals (or any other holiday animal) in our projects.

Eskimo Kisses immediately came to mind with the reindeer and penguins but I decided to go with the feathers this time as reindeers have been featured by me before and I like to change things up a bit.

So I went back to a previous Jingle Belles sketch (see here) and came up with this

Not really convinced about the festive qualities of a penguin (he he) and let's face it, they don't live anywhere near the eskimos or even Santa.... but I guess it'll do!

More scraps used up, another card for the pile.

Happy Wednesday!

  2. This is terrific! I reallly really really like the way you layered the various BG papers. Very eye-catching. I am inspired by your card :)

I have to chuckle about the penguin…my dh & I went to Alaska for our anniversary June 17-July 2. Our dd asked us to bring her a toy penguin. I told her there are no penguins in Alaska; would she prefer a bald eagle, moose, reindeer, etc.? No, she insisted on a penguin. We looked in every gift shop, then actually happened upon a small stuffed animal penguin for just $ 3.99. We even found a t-shirt that said "Alaska wildlife" that had a penguin on it too…strange, huh?

  5. Awww! I think a penguin is very "christmasey" even though they do live in the South Pole :) Love all the layers and your great paper choices on this, too! :)

  6. oof, yes, penguins are SOUTH pole as opposed to santa up north, aren't they? hopefully there's not a serious pole-based rivalry we've yet to hear of, lol! :)

however *AESTHETICALLY* penguins are awesome, and this little guy is particularly appealing, especially as the star of that fabulous KIRSTY sketch! (which i also plan to use again) as usual, you've proven your total mastery when it comes to combining patterns, colors and elements into glorious eye candy. ♥LOVE♥ this!

ps: what a FAB idea to make a book of places you love around home! please please come and link me up when you do--i'd LOVE TO see what you come up with!!! ♥

  7. This is adorable Lisa! I love the colors of the papers you used and that penguin is adorable!

Going off of Junes post...you'd be surprised at how many people ask me if I see penguins here in Alaska. I say yes, I do because my house is covered with them, as I collect penguin items :) I only wish they truly lived here...penguin and moose, I'd be one happy girl!
