Scrapabilly February kit shares #1

*Sigh* Sylvia created a gorgeous kit this month over at Scrapabilly.

One full of gorgeous spring-like colours that all went together so well - this was a "make me happy kit" for sure. It's jam-packed with papers from the Carta Bella Hello Again line with a scattering of flowers, pins, tags, twine, rid-rac and a sweet little stamp, all topped off with some really gorgeous Thickers.

When she showed it to me, I knew it would be great for so many different types of layouts and wanted to steer away from the idea that because there is a little pink in there, that this needed to be all about the little girls in my life! :-) Not that the little girls in my life aren't totally gorgeous and very, very pink - all four of them!

But the paper with the darker blue background - this paper had been on my wish list for some time - and the softer blues and greens, mixed in so well with the oranges and yellows, not to mention the awesome B-sides that there was almost not enough pink in this kit! But seriously, the peachy pinks were just perfect and it was lovely to know that every sheet of paper just went so well with all the others. I think this might be the first Carta Bella papers I've worked with and I loved the thickness they had - worked really well with lots of distressing - and the slight texture to the surface. I also really liked all of the cut-apart sheets which was a bit disappointing as the B-sides to those were also lovely and I'd have loved to used them too! Ha ha. Next time, I'll just have to have two kits to work with or at least a double of each of the papers.

I tracked what I added in to the kit and really, this kit was very self-contained. A few enamels (I used Teresa Collins here and My Minds Eye here); some October Afternoon Mini Market letters (similar here); a couple of doilies; three brads; two sheets of cardstock. That's it!

I'm going to share three layouts and two cards today and then another two layouts and three cards tomorrow, giving us yet another photo heavy post. Sorry ;-)

So yes, that's 5 layouts and 5 cards and still scraps left over - a whole lot of creating coming out of this kit.

This design was loosely based on the January sketch over at The Studio Challenges (here) - too late to link up but I thought the sketch was great and fellow Master Forger Stephanie is on the DT over there. It looks like a great challenge blog. Bookmarking for future reference.

This layout was based on the Creative Scrappers sketch #259 (here) which I featured on my 14 loves {January 2014} post (here)

This layout was for day #2 at LOAD214 - to scrap the small things. Little did I know when I took the photo of this bag just a few days ago, before throwing it away, that it would feature so quickly on a page or that I would have so very much to say about such a simple little thing!

And I always say this, but I am NOT a cardmaker! I like to run off quick and easy cards to keep in the drawer for whenever and just in case. I wish I had more patience to create works of art in mini but simple always wins the day for me. Here are two that took me minutes to make using the left overs from the kit and the sticker sheet.

Don't forget you can check out all the photos of my creations as well as the rest of the team over at Scrapabilly (here) in the gallery (here). I'm excited to see what the other DT members have made with these gorgeous products. The links to their blogs can be found in the right-hand sidebar.

Happy Monday everyone!
