Counterfeit Kit Challenge October kit reveal blog hop

Welcome to October and that means a brand new Counterfeit Kit Challenge inspiration kit to reveal to you today.

Hopefully, you've reached me from our wonderful Guest Designer Kelly's blog (here) and then next up is the ever delightful Lynnette. If you get lost along the way, you can find the full hop list at the end of the post or you can pop back to the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog to get going at the beginning of the hop.

This month Susan give us the incredibly lovely Indigo Hills by Pinkfresh Studios for our inspiration kit and I have to say, that this is on my wish list. And I knew it was going to be a tough one to forge as I had nothing in my stash that matched that watercolour, painted, modern style. This was going to call for some thinking outside the box.

Here's the Indigo Hills collection and you can find so much more over on their blog. This is a gorgeously big collection.

From that mix of colours and designs, I came up with my October kit, Lucid.

Yes, I know... it doesn't look ANYTHING like the original does it? So let me explain how I went from Indigo Hills to my Lucid!

First up, I looked at the colours of the collection and came up with a cold toned pink fresh, bright blue, grey/black, yellow and a touch of teal. That's my starting point. I also picked out that there were some florals, some full colour papers, some geometrics and lots of blocky style designs. I went through my papers and picked out whatever I could find from each of the colours I'd identified and then reduced that to two of each, trying to make sure I had some feel of the original patterns too.

I ended up with these papers. You guessed it, it's going to grow to a BIG kit.

Then I realised that I had some Pinkfresh Studio papers from other collections and added in the striped teal and the graphic city/word paper there on the right (below). I also added in the acetate that matched some of the papers from the Memorandum collection and the Pinkfresh Studio vellum that also seems to match the colours I'd picked out. So now I had expanded my selection to this below.

Now comes alphas. I had some Amy Tangerine Thickers left over from a Scrapabilly kit and the blue seems to match well. And I included some white letters that I hope to splat and mist so that they resemble the original kit. I'll of course share those if and when that happens. But the white also makes them really versatile for any layout I want. Some of these are really really OLD and the glue has completely gone so it would be good to see them on a page instead of in my basket.

I included some heart tissue confetti to replace the chipboard hearts that are simply adorable in the original. But tissue confetti is a current love so it's a good alternative.

Some veneer to match the original kit too. I may get to paint it as a forgery, or I might not. Undecided.

It seemed appropriate to include the Pinkfresh Studio puffy/rubber stickers that I had from the other collections as the bright colours match and I need to use them up.

And some items from the Memorandum collection by Pink Paislee that I have and have yet to touch. In it went.

And some pocket page cards. Just because.

Did you spot my forgery that I will be sharing in Forgeries on the Fourth? I made them ages ago as soon as we got details of the inspiration kit and I also used them to help me pick out my papers and other elements in the kit. They are as close to the original kit as I seemed to get in my overall selection but I think you'll agree that the original is there - you might need to squint, but it IS there!

Thanks for dropping by today. Here's the full list of today's hoppers.

Here's to another exciting month round here.

You never know, I might actually get some scrapping done as it is Scrap Happy exclusive LOAD month. I have 5 kits on the shelf and it would be good to see a few used up. I'll keep you informed.

  8. I think that your paper selections especially fit the inspiration kit in both color and design. I have those Basic Grey alpha stickers in black and although I have used quite a few of them, they somehow never seem to run out. The white ones will definitely be great for spattering. I like that you included some "real" Pinkfresh items too. Looking forward to your LOAD layouts as always!
